Imai is a photographer focusing on very ordinary elements of nature. But through simple pictures of landscape he is able to convey a sense of spirituality in his pictures. He has been interested in the borderline which separates the real and the unreal and in environmental issues. "[...]The artist takes photos with a large-format camera equipped with a 1940s American lens and a tripod, waiting for that elusive moment when the perfect mixture of light and darkness provides the backdrop for that singularly fantastic snapshot.
